Fully Boxed High-Strenght Steel Frame
F-150® Work Pickups are tough at their core, because they are built with a fully framed frame made of high-strength steel and large cross sections. And while it's undoubtedly strong and rigid, this rack is also relatively lightweight because many of the components are manufactured using a state-of-the-art lamination process.
High-Strenght, Military-Grade, Aluminum-Alloy Body
Ford F-150® has the only military-grade, high-strength aluminum alloy body in the Ford lineup. A heat treatment process is carried out to harden the aluminum alloy. When working with aluminum alloys, the gauge (or thickness) can be increased where it is considered necessary to achieve strength without increasing the weight. The lighter aluminum alloy allows for a higher power-to-weight ratio, plus maximum payload and towing ratings.

To prove that the Ford F-150® Work Pickup delivers the performance customers demand, it has to pass the test. Tow fully loaded trailers over desert mountain passes, ride in extreme weather conditions from -40 to 120° F, endure extreme off-road conditions, and conquer frozen plains.
These are the toughest tests that earn it the Built Ford Tough title.
