The Ford Transit has been subjected to seven million customer-equivalent miles of brutal testing in our labs and proving grounds, on roads and highways across America, at temperature extremes from -40 to 120 degrees Fahrenheit. We used trucks driven by robots at our Michigan Proving Grounds facility to conduct tests that would be too strenuous for human drivers over an extended period of time, enabling us to compress years of daily abuse into a mere few months. Our objective: enable Transit to take on the toughest challenges of strength and dependability on your everyday jobs.
The Ford Transit is built in Kansas City, with 12 upfitters located conveniently within 30 miles of the assembly plant.Transit-en-versatility-one This means faster delivery to the upfitter of your choice, in that your vehicle gets completed sooner and on the job faster. And Transit is designed for ease of upfitting. Transit models feature the fuel/Diesel DEF filler door located in the cab behind the driver’s door, plus multiple body mounts and a prewired harness. The in-cab fuel/Diesel DEF filler door also provides added security because the filler door can be accessed only when the driver’s door is open.
The Transit Cargo Van and Wagon are built with lightweight yet strong unibody construction. Front, rear and side rails are welded with the floor pan, crossmembers and torque boxes to form a single body. Unibody construction, while lighter in weight than body-on-frame, yields tremendous strength and durability. It’s built with high-strength steel as well as boron steel in select areas.
The Transit offers a variety of wheelbases and body lengths to match the particular requirements of your business, whether you’re carrying cargo or transporting people. And with rack-and-pinion steering and MacPherson-strut front suspension, the Transit handles and maneuvers more efficiently and precisely than the previous generation of the Ford full-size van.

Transit Wagon:
The Transit does everything from hauling cargo to transporting people. The van model is available in three roof heights and three body lengths. And the wagon is available in 8-, 10-, 12- and 15-passenger models. Medium- and high-roof vans are now available with dual side sliding doors.
With the three available roof heights combined with the three body lengths, you have multiple choices in cargo volumes/payloads in the cargo van and more space in the wagon for people and their belongings.
