The Ford SYNC™ 3 System allows you to connect your mobile phone to the Vehicle to enjoy many other functions, through the touch screen and voice commands. Control calls, messages, navigation or your favorite music.
How to activate Android Auto™ using SYNC™ 3?
SYNC™ 3 allows you to use Android Auto to access your phone and make calls, send and receive messages, or listen to music.
To activate Android Auto™ on your SYNC™ 3 screen:
Note: Some SYNC features such as the optional navigation system and SYNC AppLink® will not be available when using Android Auto.

To use Apple CarPlay®, your iPhone must be compatible and connected to SYNC™ 3. To connect your phone, follow the steps below:
- Use the toggle to turn 911 Assist to On.
- Press Skip this Step.
Once you are connected, Apple CarPlay will appear in the touchscreen, giving you access to Phone, Messages, Maps, and other apps.
Note: Apple CarPlay does not control any of the standard functions in your vehicle.

Active your FordPass Connect**-equipped vehicle so that you can start using the complimentary remote features such as Remote Lock/Unlock, Remote Start, or Vehicle Location.
Step 1: Download the FordPass™ App***
Step 2: Activate your FordPass Connect-equipped vehicle
Note: If you do not press Allow within 10 consecutive startups, you will need to restart the activation process from the beginning. If the pop-up does not appear on the SYNC screen:
- Turn the vehicle off and open the driver's door to power down the vehicle.
- Wait 30 seconds and press Activate Vehicle again in the FordPass App.
- Start the vehicle and press Allow on the SYNC screen.
Step 3 (optional): Enable FordPass™ Connect Connectivity Settings through the SYNC™ screen
